Many of our Bangalore clients want their homes to feel right by Vastu principles as well as look beautiful — and the good news is the two aren't in conflict. Here are the guidelines we most commonly work with.
Kitchen
Traditionally placed in the south-east corner of the home, with the cook facing east while working at the stove where possible.
Main door & entrance
Ideally opens inward and is kept well-lit and clutter-free — the entrance is considered the point where energy enters the home.
Bedrooms
The master bedroom is commonly placed in the south-west, with the bed positioned so you don't sleep with your feet directly facing the door.
Pooja room
North-east is considered the most auspicious direction for a pooja unit, kept separate from the bedroom and bathroom where layout allows.
Mirrors & water elements
Mirrors facing the bed are generally avoided; a north or east placement is preferred for mirrors elsewhere in the home.
Colour choices
Lighter, calming tones are favoured in bedrooms, while the kitchen and living areas can take warmer or more energetic colours.
