Bangalore apartments come in every shape and size — from compact 2BHK layouts in high-rises to sprawling villa kitchens — and the right modular layout makes all the difference to how a kitchen actually feels to cook and live in. Here are the five layouts we design most often, and where each one works best.
1. L-Shaped Kitchen
The most popular layout for mid-size apartments. It uses two adjoining walls, keeps the work triangle (sink, stove, fridge) tight and efficient, and leaves the rest of the room free for a dining table or breakfast counter.
2. Parallel (Galley) Kitchen
Two counters facing each other along opposite walls. It's the most space-efficient layout for narrow kitchens and gives you almost double the counter and storage of a single-wall design — a favourite in Bangalore's compact 2BHK floor plans.
3. Straight / Single-Wall Kitchen
Everything along one wall. Simple, budget-friendly, and ideal for studio apartments or open-plan homes where the kitchen opens into the living area.
4. U-Shaped Kitchen
Three walls of cabinetry and counter space. If your apartment has the room for it, this gives you the most storage and workspace of any layout — great for families who cook often.
5. Island Kitchen
A freestanding counter in the middle of the kitchen, usually paired with an L or U-shaped base. It works best in larger apartments and villas, and doubles up beautifully as a breakfast counter or entertaining space.
